The Edith Cowan University Student Guild is the representative body for the student community at Edith Cowan University. Selected candidates will go into a pool of available casuals. The work is available on an “as required” basis and regular shifts do not apply.
Event support casuals will be required to assist with the facilitation of a number of events including; Orientation Sessions, Guild Fair, various club events and BBQs in a small service friendly team, in a great working environment.
Duties include, but are not limited to;
- Assist in maintaining a high level of student involvement and customer service in any event or function.
- Be available during normal academic hours and/or after hours and on weekends to assist the Activities Officer with set up and pack down of event space, shows, BBQ’s, and functions.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, personal presentation in both behaviour and actions, as a representative of the Student Guild.
- Set up of marquees, trestle tables, chairs, sound equipment, staging, lighting, signage and any other equipment as required.
- Set up, turning on and use of BBQ’s and cleaning of BBQ’s, utensils, catering equipment and event area.
- Collection of catering, equipment and utensils from different venues.
- Ability to safely lift heavy items and equipment using safe manual handling techniques.
- Cooking, handling and distribution of food (including a variety of vegetarian, halal, kosher and different meats).
- Any other duties that may be deemed necessary, from time to time.
Training will be provided including:
- Manual Handling Course
- I’m Alert Food Safety Course
REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE
Essential
- Current drivers licence, and ability to work between ECU campuses as required.
- Ability to lift safely heavy items and equipment using safe manual handling techniques.
- Have a current or able to obtain a Police clearance.
- Ability to complete training both online and in person as required.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Availability to work some early mornings, evenings, and on weekends when required.
- Must be over 18 years of age, due to nature of events.
Desirable
- First Aid certificate and RSA Certification.
- Experience in Event Support
Some online training is required for this role; you must be available to complete this upon successful application.
