City Campus Curious? Here’s What You Asked (and What We Found Out!)
We asked the ECU Student Life team for answers to your questions about the City Campus move!
Will there be a Living Room service in the City Campus?
Yes. In the Wellness Precinct you’ll find the ECU Health Service where students can access a bulk-billing doctor, Psychological Counselling Support and Access and Inclusion Services.
There will also be a Living Room you can drop in to for peer support just like in Joondalup and Mount Lawley.
Will there be student accommodation at ECU City?
Here are several external student accommodation providers near ECU City.
ECU is also aware of several additional private student accommodation high-rise buildings in the CBD close to ECU City that have been proposed, received development approval, or are already under construction, signalling more accommodation options are on the way. ECU’s student accommodation at the Joondalup and South West campuses will also remain open.

Will there be enough rehearsal spaces? What are the WAAPA spaces like?
WAAPA’s performance venues include a Recital Hall, Playhouse Theatre, Dance Theatre, Jazz and Contemporary Music Studio, Flex Theatre and Aboriginal Theatre, as well as Music Rehearsal and Playhouse Theatre Rehearsal spaces. There all being fitted out with new state-of-the-art equipment.
Will there be student accommodation at ECU City?

Is the new campus for art and business student only? Will all courses be available at ECU City? Are there any programs that exclusive to ECU City?
The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), the School of Business and Law, Creative Humanities programs from the School of Arts and Humanities, including visual arts, design, communications, broadcasting, and the WA Screen and Media Academy will all be at ECU City.
Kurongkurl Katitjin, ECU’s Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research, will be in the city campus as well as having a continued presence at Joondalup and South West campuses. Some specialist units and courses may be delivered across multiple campuses, depending on the location of the School that is delivering that specific program or course.
Can I use the library and facilities there, even though I’m at the Joondalup campus? Is there a good Library at ECU City?
Yes, the Learning Commons area will include the Library, ELabs, and Career and Employability services, just like the Library in Joondalup. All ECU students can access this study space.

Will Psychology students be allowed to move to the City Campus?
Psychology will be remaining at the Joondalup campus.

Will Engineering be available in the City Campus?
Engineering is offered at our main campus in Joondalup. There are amazing, specialised facilities.
Will Primary Education be offered at ECU City?
Education will be moving from our current Mount Lawley campus to our primary campus in Joondalup. Brand new learning spaces are being created for the arrival of the School of Education, and students will have access to the huge range of facilities and support services on the Joondalup campus.
Beautiful campuses – can I start my course from there?
It depends what you are studying. The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), the School of Business and Law, Creative Humanities programs from the School of Arts and Humanities, including visual arts, design, communications, broadcasting, and the WA Screen and Media Academy will all be at ECU City. Other courses are at our main campus in Joondalup which has world class facilities.
Could some units be taken at the City Campus even if the course is not based there?
If the units are offered at the City Campus you will be able to opt to study them there.
We’d recommend carefully looking at your timetable when you enrol in the units.
Will there be cafes inside the new campus?
Yes. You’ll definitely be able to grab a coffee and a bite to eat.
