Guild President’s 2025 Wrap-Up & Thank You

As 2025 draws to a close, the ECU Student Guild is proud to reflect on a year marked by growth, connection, and meaningful support for our student community. Our clubs, along with thousands of engaged students, played a central role in shaping an active and welcoming campus environment throughout the year.

This year saw the introduction of several new clubs, each bringing fresh perspectives and opportunities for students to get involved. Our long-standing clubs continued their strong contributions, running events, workshops, competitions, and community activities that enriched the student experience from start to finish. Their commitment has been instrumental in maintaining a vibrant and diverse clubs culture across our campuses.

Supporting students remained a key focus for the Guild in 2025. Initiatives such as Free Lunch Tuesdays and the Guild Pop-up Pantry helped alleviate financial pressures and provided reliable access to food and essentials. During the exam period, the Guild expanded this support with free breakfast and free lunch every day, along with the Guild Goodie Trolley in the library, ensuring students felt supported and cared for during one of the most demanding periods of the academic year. We have also been working on some exciting projects for 2026, which will come to life next year to further enhance student support, engagement, and campus life.

Creating a lively and engaging atmosphere on campus was another major highlight of the year. Regular Guild activations brought colour and energy to ECU, featuring activities such as the Animal Farm, Circus performers, Bouncy Castle, West Oz Animals, board games, face painting, caricature artists, and other interactive experiences. These events not only added fun to the academic year but also fostered a strong sense of community and belonging among students.

The Guild also continued to advocate strongly for students. A key area of focus was supporting those who faced delays in receiving outcomes for academic misconduct cases. These delays risked impacting the Certificates of Enrolment of international students, and Guild intervention helped ensure that these cases were prioritised and resolved promptly.

As we reflect on 2025, it’s clear that the achievements of this year were made possible through the collective efforts of clubs, student leaders, volunteers, and the broader student community. Their dedication has helped shape an ECU experience that is engaging, supportive, and student-centred.

As my term concludes, I want to thank you for putting your trust in me and allowing me the opportunity to represent you. It has been a great pleasure serving the ECU community and advocating on your behalf over the years. I wish the 2026 President-Elect, Sheharyar Sahi, every success and am confident the Guild will continue to grow and support students under his leadership.
