General Secretary Appointed at Special General Meeting
The ECU Student Guild is pleased to announce that Aneeba Asraf has been elected to the position of General Secretary following a Special General Meeting (SGM) held on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
The vacancy arose following the resignation of the previous General Secretary and was filled in accordance with clause 56(2)(ii) of the Edith Cowan University Student Guild Constitution, with Guild Members electing a candidate by secret ballot at the SGM.
Aneeba currently serves as the Guild’s Vice President International and has been actively involved in representing and supporting students across the ECU community. In her newly elected role as General Secretary, she will support the effective governance and administration of the Guild, including assisting with Senate processes, records, compliance obligations, and broader governance matters.
The General Secretary plays an important role in supporting the operations of the Guild Senate and ensuring governance processes are carried out in the best interests of Guild Members and the student body.
The ECU Student Guild congratulates Aneeba on her appointment and looks forward to her continued contribution to student representation and Guild governance.
The Guild would also like to thank all Members who attended the Special General Meeting and participated in the democratic process.
Please join us in congratulating Aneeba on her appointment as General Secretary. 👏
