ECU Student Guild Food Pantry opens to support students

Our ECU Student Guild Food Pantry has officially opened at ECU Joondalup, providing free access to essential food and personal care items for students who need a little extra support throughout the semester.

Created in response to growing cost-of-living pressures, the pantry aims to provide a welcoming and dignified space where students can access everyday essentials, including pantry staples, fresh produce and personal care items.

Supporting students beyond the classroom

ECU Student Guild President Sheharyar Sahi said the initiative reflects the Guild’s commitment to supporting students beyond the classroom.

“Rising living costs are placing significant pressure on students, and for some, accessing affordable, nutritious food has become a real challenge,” Sheharyar said.

“The Food Pantry provides practical support to help students stay healthy, focused and able to succeed in their studies.”

As the Food Pantry is a pilot program, opening hours may change depending on volunteer availability and stock levels. Any updates to access times will be shared through ECU Student Guild communication channels.

Help keep the Pantry open

The Food Pantry relies on the support of student volunteers to help welcome students, manage supplies and keep the service running. As we launch this pilot program, volunteer support plays an important role in helping us maintain regular opening hours and provide a welcoming experience for students.

If you have a few hours to spare and would like to support your fellow students, we’d love to hear from you. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference, connect with other students and help build a stronger ECU community.
