Guild Pillars

The ECU Student Guild’s pillars bring students together through shared interests, experiences, and opportunities. Everything we do is guided by our commitment to creating a better university experience for students.

Student-Centred

At the heart of the Guild is a student-centred approach. Driven by student needs, feedback, and experiences, this pillar embodies the Guild’s commitment to creating a better university experience for all students.

Whether through advocacy, support services, representation, events, clubs, or opportunities to get involved, the Guild exists to ensure students are heard, supported, and empowered throughout their time at ECU.

International

The International Pillar supports and celebrates ECU’s diverse international student community.

It provides opportunities for international students to connect with one another, share their cultures, access support, and contribute to student life. The pillar also advocates for the interests and experiences of international students across the university.

Supports and represents ECU’s international student community.

Academic Voice

The Academic Pillar supports students in their learning journey and represents undergraduate and postgraduate students across ECU.

From academic advocacy and student representation to networking opportunities and professional development, the Academic Pillar helps students make the most of their university experience and have their voices heard.

Students can also get involved as Student Representatives, working alongside the Guild and ECU to advocate for their peers and help shape the student experience within their School.

Includes Undergraduate and Postgraduate representation.

Wellbeing & Change

The Wellbeing & Change Pillar brings together students who are passionate about creating a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable university community.

This pillar encompasses areas previously represented through equity, diversity, environmental sustainability, and social justice initiatives. It provides opportunities for students to advocate for positive change, celebrate diversity, and contribute to causes that matter.

The Guild’s Advisory Service also sits within this pillar, providing free, independent support and advocacy for students navigating academic, financial, or personal challenges.

Includes Equity, Diversity, Environmental Sustainability, First Nations, and other change-focused initiatives.

Social & Sports

The Social & Sports Pillar is all about connection, community, and student life.

Home to many of the Guild’s clubs and societies, this pillar helps students build friendships, explore interests, develop new skills, and create memorable experiences both on and off campus.

The pillar also supports the Guild’s social sports programs, providing opportunities for students to stay active, have fun, and connect through friendly competition.

Students at ECU South West are also represented through this pillar, helping ensure they remain connected to the wider Guild community and student experience.

Includes clubs, societies, social sports, and South West student engagement.
