Join the ECU Student Guild for Thrift & Thrive, a sustainable clothing exchange where you can browse quality pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories, meet fellow students and enjoy a FREE BBQ.

It’s all about making sustainable fashion accessible, reducing textile waste and giving good-quality items a new home. 💚♻️

👕 How does it work?

Donating before the event

In the weeks leading up to Thrift & Thrive, students and ECU staff can donate clean, good-quality pre-loved clothing, shoes and accessories at the ECU Student Guild Office during normal operating hours, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

All donations will be inspected by Guild staff and Senate to make sure they are clean, wearable and in good condition.

🚫 We cannot accept items that are unclean, damaged, excessively worn or unsuitable for reuse.

Donors

If you donate suitable items, you’ll be added to our Donor List and receive a special wristband when you check in at the event.

Depending on stock levels, registered donors can select up to four free items on the day.

Registered participants

Didn’t donate? No worries! You can still join in. Simply register for the event for FREE and receive a different-coloured wristband at check-in.

Registered participants who haven’t donated can select up to two free items, depending on stock levels. Additional items may also be available for a small fee of approximately $0.50–$1 per item.

🌭 FREE BBQ

Registered participants can enjoy a FREE BBQ from 10:00 am – 11:00 am while you browse and connect with fellow students.

Date: Wednesday 19 August

Time: 10:00 am – 1:30 pm

Location: Grass area in front of Building 32, Joondalup Campus

🕐 Event schedule

10:00 am – 10:15 am

Event opens, welcome and participant check-in. Donors will receive their Donor List wristbands, while registered non-donors will receive a different-coloured wristband.

10:15 am – 11:45 am

Browse and find your new-to-you favourites! Volunteers will be on hand to assist with clothing selection and restocking.

10:00 am – 11:00 am

🌭 FREE BBQ for registered participants

11:45 am – 1:00 pm

Continue browsing, enjoy lunch and connect with fellow students.

1:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Final opportunity to pick up items, followed by event wrap-up and closing announcements.
