A Special Shout-Out to Hey So Hungry

We’re especially proud to celebrate Hey So Hungry, who were named the National Campus Music Competition’s August monthly winner.

The Perth indie pop and indie rock four-piece have been building serious momentum, earning recognition for their energetic live performances, infectious hooks and standout songwriting. Their success in the competition is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the incredible talent coming out of ECU’s student community.

While Hey So Hungry won’t be able to join us on stage for Battle of the Beats, they’ll still be recognised as part of our ECU music story.

Battle of the Beats Is Coming This November

To give our ECU acts the best possible opportunity to perform, connect with audiences and build support, we’ve moved Battle of the Beats to Tuesday 3 November 2026.

The extra time allows us to bring together a bigger and stronger showcase of ECU talent, while giving students more opportunities to discover and support the artists representing our university.

Battle of the Beats isn’t just a gig. It’s a celebration of student creativity, live music and the incredible talent studying right here at ECU.

Help Support ECU’s Future Stars

Every great artist starts somewhere.

The National Campus Music Competition gives student artists a platform to be discovered, and Battle of the Beats gives the ECU community a chance to show up and support them.
