Guild Kitchen = Shared Kitchen
The ECU Student Guild kitchens exist to make campus life a little easier — a place to grab a free tea or coffee, make some toast, enjoy a snack, and take a break between classes.
But most importantly: it’s a shared space, for everyone. And that only works if we look out for each other.
Recently, we’ve noticed that sometimes popular items like bread and milk are being taken in large amounts at once, meaning there isn’t enough left for other students throughout the day. When a few people take more than they need, it quickly impacts everyone else.
We get it — it’s easy to grab a bit extra when you’re hungry or in a rush. But a simple mindset shift makes a big difference:
Take what you need—leave enough for everyone.
A few simple ways we can all keep it fair:
- Take a reasonable amount so others can enjoy it too
- Use utensils provided (and not fingers — seriously, we’ve seen it)
- Only use milk and supplies for intended purposes
- Clean up after yourself so the next person walks into a fresh space
- Be mindful during busy times when demand is higher
And if you’re hungry or finding things tough, you’re not on your own. The Guild is here to support you in more ways than just kitchen supplies.
Students facing financial hardship can make an appointment with a Guild Advisory Officer to go through all support available or visit:

These spaces are here for students — and they only stay great if we all treat them like they belong to all of us.
Thanks for helping keep the Guild kitchens fair, welcoming, and accessible for everyone 💙
